I'd say worse, but in ways you can call it freedom. Freedom from politicians. Freedom for unnecessary and oppressing laws. Freedom from the everyday grind of capitalism.
However, the price to pay is that you can be killed at any moment. No one will enforce punishment, unless you take it into your own hands. [ Hm. ] It is a place where you are rewarded for doing harm to others.
Some people aren't strong in that sort of way. Doesn't mean they should die.
Adapt or die are just words thrown around by people too scared to try and do a system and do it right. Absolves them of guilt if someone dies and they can just say "well maybe you should've been stronger, tried harder, been better".
I'm thinking of a world where people actually look at human decency and use their power when people aren't upholding it. Not throwing their weight around for their own sake, or the sake of other people with too much power or money.

I’m not against laws. But when they weigh too far one way and stop benefitting everyone, that’s when the playing field needs levelling.
The Empire’s laws are bad, but the depending on the Guild, their laws can be just as bad.
